Manage the pivCLASS Authentication Module and assign reader types and authentication modes

HID Global’s pivCLASS Reader Services software application is required to manage the pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM). Using Reader Services, the administrator can select the reader types to be controlled by a PAM for specific doors or other access points. It is also used to set the authentication modes on a per door basis in each PAM. Reader Services is used to download PAM firmware updates and to configure periodic downloading of updated credential status files (which are then cached locally on each PAM).

Key Features:

  • Easy to use operator interface
  • Supports encrypted communication channels to each PAM to ensure secure transmission of data
  • Works seamlessly with other pivCLASS software applications

pivCLASS software components support:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2012, 2008 & Microsoft Windows 10, 8.1, 7
  • Interoperable with any SQL database supported by the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server
    • Microsoft Access as well as Firebird 2.0 supported for test and development environments

pivCLASS software components minimum hardware requirements:

  • CPU – 1.8 GHz
  • Random Access Memory – 1 gigabyte
  • Hard Disk Space – 40 gigabytes
  • Network – requires network connectivity with cardholders’ credential issuing Certificate Authorities to support PKI validation
  • sPHYSICAL ACCESS SOLUTIONSpivCLASS®Authentication Module with Reader ServicesPKI AT THE DOOR® (STRONG AUTHENTICATION)ƒEnables upgrade to FIPS 201 compliance – Upgrades any physical access control system (PACS) to achieve FIPS 201 compliance without the need to rip-and-replace the existing PACS.ƒConfigurable Wiegand output format – Matches PACS's desired format and bit length. Enables mandated PKI at the door without upgrading PACS controller or head-end software.ƒValidates PKI-based smart cards – Authenticates PIV, PIV-I, CIV (a.k.a., PIV-C), TWIC, FRAC and CAC cards. Performs path validation and certificate revocation checking using CRL, OCSP or SCVP. ƒMeets regulatory requirements – Enables facilities to authenticate PIV, PIV-I, CIV, TWIC, FRAC and CAC cards using single-, two- and three-factor authentication to meet all necessary authentication modes and assurance levels specified in NIST SP 800-116 and the TWIC Reader Specification.ƒCentral management of authentication modes – Enables dynamic control of authentication modes through the pivCLASS Reader Services.
