HID Global’s pivCLASS RK40 wall switch with keypad contactless reader is suitable for use in security areas meeting the FIPS-201 criteria for “Controlled” access and is intended to support the use of a personal identification number (PIN) entered via a keypad and sent directly to a panel or door controller (PIN matched at panel, not on card). To be used in combination with HID Global’s pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM), requires the addition of the contact reader sidecar (available as a kit) and a reconfiguration that can be done in the field. The pivCLASS RK40 supports reading any PIV-based card with a contactless interface and containing a Card Authentication Key (CAK) certificate.
